The Delano King Foundation is proud to partner with the Delaware Department of Education to run a Summer Food Service Program site in New Castle Delaware. Our site, located at 51 Blue Hen Drive, Newark, DE 19713 will serve nutritious meals to children 18 and under. Meals included healthy, kid-friendly foods including cereal and milk, bagels, mini pancakes, chicken nuggets, cheeseburgers, chicken patty sandwiches, carrots, yogurt, oranges, and more! We also will have a variety of games and activities for the kids to enjoy, such as coloring activities, ball games, board games, scriptures reading and more. Our volunteers work tirelessly to make sure that children are safe and are properly serve nutritious meals during the summer. The Delano King Foundation stresses the important role food plays in the physical and psychological development of a child. Mild to moderate malnutrition can be considered a developmental risk factor for all children and can greatly affect a child’s capacity to learn. Volunteers also help to keep children engage in creative activities.
