And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:40-41

What is the Gethsemane Morning Show?

The Gethsemane Morning Show is an online environment where people from across the globe meet to intercede for each other, the poor and the world. It is an environment where we meet and submit our burdens before Jesus – the King of kings and the Lord of lords. We work daily to take the love of Jesus Christ to every corner of the earth through faith-and-family programming that is inspirational, entertaining, and life-changing. The Gethsemane Morning Show is air every weekend from 5 AM – 9 AM on Facebook (DKFTV) and online radio station – Voice of Delano King Foundation (VODKF).

The Gethsemane Morning Show airs sermons and gospel music from local dialects across Africa as well as other languages. It brings nations of believers together under one roof – Jesus Christ, regardless of their ethnicity or tribal strata.

The Gethsemane Morning Show is synonymous to the Garden of Gethsemane – a place of great significance to Jesus Christ. It was a place where Jesus retreated into deep prayer in a time of agony before his arrest and crucifixion. The Gospel of Matthew tell us that Jesus took his disciples – Peter, James, and John – with him “so he could pray.” At the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus tussled in great sorrow with the torture and humiliation, he knew what was before him. (Matthew 26:36).

Jesus acknowledged his sadness in the Garden of Gethsemane when he asked Peter, James and John to keep watch as he went and prayed. Then he said unto them, “My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me” (Matthew 26:38). Jesus walked a little further and fell on his face and began to pray, saying, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt” (Matthew 26:39).

What cup(s) are in your life today are is causing your soul to be sorrowful, even unto death? Is it a cup of marital problems such as divorce and physical abuse? Have you lost a friend or family member who was dear to your heart? Have you lost your job and going through financial challenges? Were you diagnosed with terminal illness and gradually giving up on life? Are your business going down the drain and you have no way out? Whatever the situation may be, you have the power to leave them in the Garden of Gethsemane, believing that Jesus Christ will meet you at your point of needs.

Jesus returned from praying and met his disciples asleep, and he said unto Peter, “What, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:40-41). God can take away whatever cups are in your life that is causing your sorrow. But you have a significant role to play in the process. Firstly, you must accept and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. Secondly, you must take action – you cannot have the attitude of the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane, when their master was praying and expect your cups to be taken away.

Jesus Christ instructed his disciples to “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41).

Jesus was never focused on what he wanted throughout his challenging times in the Garden of Gethsemane. He wanted his Father’s will to be accomplished! Jesus went before His father in prayer for the second time, saying, “O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done” (Matthew 26:42). As Christians, no matter the conditions or circumstances we find ourselves in, we must always have the attitude of Jesus Christ by allowing the will of God to be done.

Heavenly Father, in the name of your son Jesus Christ – the name above every other name at which every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I pray for every man, woman, and child whose soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of giving up. I pray Lord Jesus, if it be possible, let their cups pass from them: nevertheless oh, Lord Jesus, not as their will, but as your will. In Jesus Name!
