The Delano King Foundation Africa Orphans Initiative Scholarships 2019

Delano King Foundation, U.S-based non-profit organization is offering fully funded scholarships to individuals orphaned by violence, epidemic or natural death to fulfill their personal and professional goals of attending and graduating Elementary and high school. The scholarship will cover; Tuition fees, Uniform, and educational supplies. All DKF scholarships are awarded based on a combination of merit and need, and funding levels are determined based on cost of attendance and other resources. Scholarship recipients as well as non-recipients will be notified via email. Notification will be sent to the email provided in the application.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:

Delano King Foundation, U.S-based non-profit organization provides spiritual, educational and emotional support to orphaned students in Liberia. Since its inception the organization has focused on meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the vulnerable populations of Liberia.

The Delano King Foundation Africa Orphans Initiative scholarship aims to empower outstanding orphans through elementary and secondary education each year. Orphans are amongst the poorest and vulnerable individuals in the communities and the scholarship would like to make them integrate in community development and leadership.

The scholarship scouts orphaned or bereaved students with good academic achievement and potential. The Delano King Foundation scholarship provides the eligible students with physical and spiritual mentorship. The mentorship is to enable students get support and assistance with their study of various subjects and to have a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants for the scholarship must:

  • Be an orphan, having lost one or both parents
  • Be a natural person
  • Be a Liberian citizen

HOW TO APPLY

Applications for the scholarship can be submitted preferably online or sent by email. Candidates must submit;

  • A completed application form for the scholarship
  • A working email address and telephone contact
  • A death certificate of one or all parents
  • A birth certificate, national ID or passport showing your age
  • A secondary school or high school graduation transcripts
  • Report cards from the last high school or secondary school
  • A recommendation letter from your previous principal, teacher, Pastor, Imam, or Rabbi
  • A Passport size photo

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Completed application form
  • Working email address and telephone number
  • Document proving the death of one or both parents, such as a death certificate
  • Proof of age, such as a birth certificate, national ID or passport
  • Breakdown sheet of selected school tuition and academic fees
  • Academic report cards from high school/secondary school
  • A recommendation letter from your previous principal, teacher, Pastor, Imam or Rabbi
  • If first time enrolling in high school/secondary school, submit your elementary report card
  • Passport-style photo of yourself

SELECTION

Applications are open between September 16th – December 16th, 2018. Scholarship recipients as well as non-recipients will be notified via email. Notification will be sent to the email provided in the application between January 28th – February 28th, 2019.

HOW TO APPLY

There are three ways to apply for The Delano King Foundation Africa Orphans Initiative Scholarship, although we prefer online applications or those sent by email. There is no application fee, and you must never pay anyone to apply or to apply on your behalf.

Please note that if you apply by post, all submitted documents will not be returned to you. Therefore, you must send copies of documents ONLY.
