During the peak of the Ebola epidemic in Liberia, 12-year-old Tetee Williams witnessed the devastating impact of the virus as it claimed the lives of her mother and 8 other family members. Her mother, known for her generosity and support to both her family and those in need, had always dreamed of seeing Tetee graduate high school and become a medical doctor. Tetee was heartbroken by her mother’s death, fearing that her dreams of furthering her education had died with her. However, despite this tragic loss, Tetee’s journey was far from over. God’s mysterious and faithful plans for her life were just beginning to unfold.
Her family’s yard was the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak in Monrovia, attracting the attention of numerous international nonprofits and media organizations. Despite the many promises of support, none materialized. Fortunately, in 2016, Tetee became the first recipient of The Delano King Foundation Africa Orphaned Scholarship, thanks to the assistance of a neighbor who volunteered with the foundation. Tetee graduated from high school in November 2022. Today, she is thriving and deeply grateful for the opportunity to pursue her dreams.
