The Christmas season is approaching, a time typically filled with happiness and celebration for many families. However, for orphaned, abandoned, disabled, and disadvantaged children who lack familial support, the holiday season can be a source of anxiety rather than anticipation. The Delano King Foundation steps in during this season to transform it into a time of celebration for these children in need. Through our annual Christmas event in underprivileged areas, we embody the boundless love of Jesus Christ. We spread cheer among these children by distributing gifts and providing nutritious meals to those facing food scarcity. The transformative impact of Operation Christmas shines through in the stories of assistance we provide to orphaned, disabled, abandoned, and disadvantaged children and their families throughout Liberia. The life-changing work of the Delano King Foundation is best seen in our stories of aid to the orphaned, disabled, abandoned, and less fortunate children and families of Liberia.

2022 Operation Christmas

A Beacon of Hope for The Most Vulnerable

In Liberia, many widows and senior citizens grapple with societal exclusion and marginalization. This stigmatization often forces them to resort to begging on the streets or relying on the help of young children to survive. To address this, the Delano King Foundation initiated Operation Christmas, a campaign that provided food, medical assistant, and vital supplies to the disabled, widows, and elderly in various communities around Monrovia, Liberia. The initiative serves a dual purpose: addressing their immediate physical needs and spreading the uplifting message of Jesus Christ. With unwavering commitment, the foundation’s volunteers traverse the bustling streets and the quiet alleys of Liberia’s communities, carrying more than just parcels of aid—they carry the message that no one is forgotten and that every life is valued.

The Disable Community – Gbarnga, Bong County

Individuals with disabilities in Liberia encounter numerous obstacles, including societal discrimination and exclusion. Prevailing cultural perceptions often attribute disabilities to supernatural causes or view them as retribution for personal misdeeds. This stigma leads to widespread marginalization, forcing many disabled individuals to resort to begging on the streets or relying on their children for support in such activities. In response to these adversities, the Delano King Foundation has taken a proactive stance by launching a program aimed at uplifting the spirits of the disabled community. Our efforts include distributing donations to each person with a disability, comprising food, hygiene products, and other necessities.

Buchanan, Grand Bassa County

During Operation Christmas, the team at The Delano King Foundation provided festive meals and conveyed the message of Jesus Christ’s love to the disadvantaged and underprivileged residents of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia. For many of these children and their families, it was the first time they had ever received a gift or learned the true significance of Christmas—moments made possible by the generosity of someone like you.

2021 Operation Christmas

Center Street Ghetto – Monrovia, Liberia

Liberia’s prolonged civil war, spanning 14 years, coupled with a decrepit educational framework and rampant corruption, has precipitated a drain of intellectual capital and financial resources. This exodus has entrenched the vast majority of Liberians in deep-seated poverty. As the nation’s economic plight worsens, it grapples with a shortfall in skilled human resources. Amidst this grim reality, a growing number of disheartened teenagers are succumbing to the life of “Zogos”—a Liberian colloquialism denoting disaffected former child combatants and youths ensnared by substance abuse. In the face of these challenges, the Delano King Foundation has emerged as a beacon of hope, undertaking the mission to revitalize optimism by providing sustenance and imparting the teachings of Jesus Christ to these vulnerable youths inhabiting the Center Street slum.
