World Medical Mission, a ministry of the Delano King Foundation that ministers to the physical needs of the sick and suffering while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Through the World Medical Ministry, we provide medical assistance to the poor and vulnerable children and families of Liberia. One of our recent projects was to provide medical assistance to Sackie, a drug-addicted youth living in Gbarnga, Liberia, who had a severe condition affecting his genital area. Sackie suffered from penis, scrotum, and testicle problems for over 25 years. The infection causes the tissue to die and rot, leading to foul-smelling discharge, fever, and shock. If left untreated, it can result in death.

Sackie was in desperate need of surgery, but he had no money, and no one was willing to assist because he was referred to as “Zogo”, a derogatory term used to refer to disadvantaged youth who eke out a scanty living. His auntie is poor, and she can barely afford a cup of rice. He lived in excruciating pain for years, and at one point he felt he was going to die. Fortunately, the Delano King Foundation team visited the Kampala ghetto shared Christmas meals, and ministered the Good News of Jesus Christ on Christmas Day of 2022. During the food distribution, Delano King, Founder and President of the Delano King Foundation, came in contact with Sackie. Being moved by God’s mandates – to love, care, and serve everyone, the World Medical Ministry a ministry of the Delano King Foundation funded Sackie’s surgery.

Sackie gradually recovered from his surgery but he also experienced a spiritual transformation. After numerous engagements with the Delano King Foundation Team, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. He felt a peace and joy that he had never felt before. He also reconciled with his family, who welcomed him back with love.

Sackie’s story is one of many examples of how the World Medical Ministry is making a difference in the lives of poor and vulnerable people across Liberia. By providing medical care and spiritual guidance, we are showing the love of Christ in action. Our team works tirelessly to ensure patients receive ongoing follow-up and care. We  fulfill our mission by “ministering to the physical needs of the sick and suffering while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
